an almost lost art

To me it seems like most people don't even know how to sew nowadays. It's so weird to me that this hobby is almost obsolete in the house of all Americans. I grew up sewing. I even took a sewing class when I was younger! I have been wanting a nice sewing machine ever since I got married. But I've never bought one, or received one as a gift. I plan on putting it on my wish list for my birthday this year. Anyways, I thought about this form of art because of my addiction to browsing Etsy at least once a day most days. I came across a photo of this fantastic wallet on the front page as I very first opened up the browser! This is not a normal "art review", but I think that sewing is an art too! This girls name is Sarah, and she has some amazing talent. I love the patterns of all the purses and wallets that she has posted on Etsy. They are all so lively and full of color. They look like quality purses too. I think that if you owned one of her designs that you would get asked all the time "where did you get that purse?!" I think they're fantastic, but you can decide for yourself! Here are some photos and the link to her shop on Etsy.

This is the wallet that I saw on the first page. I have a weak spot for polka dots. Jake loves it when I wear things with polka dots, and I have always liked them too. This print reminds me of something 50's. Its such a rich and bright cherry red!

And check out the inside! Its such a strong contrast in color. But I love it. Its a good mix.

This purse is so bright and busy! Its so silly too. Plus check out the shape! Its so original. I like it, but I don't really use purses that don't have shoulder straps :/ I feel like this purse could match a lot of outfits, and clash with a lot of outfits...

I love the inside! Pinstripes! And pink no less :)

It's so crazy, I have some scrapbooking paper that is EXACTLY the same as this wallet fabric! I don't think I would buy this because it would just remind me too much of that paper, I feel like I've seen too much of it already. Weird.

And check out the shape of this clutch! Original again. I love the splashes of brightly colored flowers. The flow of the design on this purse is happy to me. I have also seen a scrapbooking paper in this same pattern. But I don't own it, so I haven't seen it a ton of times like the other one. I love the brown against the front too.

This purse seems more sensible and sophisticated. Its a clean cut design, but still looks fun in a more calm manner. I have a hard time buying purses in white or cream because once it starts to get dirty it doesn't look nice anymore. But I really like this one :)

The inside lining is really funky!

Here is the link to her shop on Etsy. If you are looking for a new purse or wallet, maybe you could get one from her!

Wow! her designs seem really precise and thought out! And well made...I love it! So cute. Sewing is definitely an art, I know that I can't do it...but it would be useful and so fun to know!

Coincidentally, I have been thinking a lot about sewing too. I really want to start hand stitching things like purses or book bags.

I really like all of the purses you picked out. They are all so full of life and girlishness!
