I am at my in-laws house right now, been here since yesterday. And we are spending the night again tonight. We will be going home tomorrow. We haven't stayed over for two nights in a row in a long time. I get easily overwhelmed by the end of the second night (right now). But everyone is watching a movie right now, 2012. I have no desire at all to watch it. So I'm on the computer. I wanted to blog about something, but I'm limited in a sense because I am not on my computer, so I don't have my photos or whatnot. Right now I am enjoying some iced chai that I bought from my mother in law (she sells Watkins products). Its pretty good, but not as strong as I would like. Even though I more than doubled the recommended amount of tea to water ratio. I'll have to tweak with it to get the desired taste. Yesterday I made some soap at home. I made 5 small batches of soap in different colors and scents. Then I made a big batch of white soap with a little shimmer (not glitter, shimmer) and a coconut scent. I cut up the colored soaps after they set in the molds, some like flowers, and some just chunks. Then I arranged them in the bigger molds (and smaller ones for that matter) and poured the white ontop. They turned out super cute in my opinion! Here are some photos of some of them...
I love this one! I think it kind of looks like those tiles that people often decorate their kitchens or bathrooms in :) I love the colors together.
I think the flowers are so delicate and cute! This bar is the same size as an average bar of soap. There were a lot this size (different designs), but I cut most of them into halves, thirds, or quarters. Since this design wouldn't make sense cut up I left it whole.
This is one of the ones with the chunks of different colors and scents in it :) I love the way it looks. It's so playful.
This one has "wedges" of the different soaps. The whole one was a complete circle of wedges (it was one of the ones I cut in half). It reminds me of the color wedge pieces in the game Trivial Pursuit :)
This one is one of my favorites! So simple and fresh. It just looks so pure to me.
This one is more of a manly one. I didn't want them all to be all flowers and frills :P
So I hope you liked them! It was the first time that I made soap at home. It was a lot of fun. It was an all day type of process, because I made all the color ones. If I made more plain ones it would've been much less time consuming :P Nonetheless I really like them. Before I left the house yesterday I tried out one of my little ones. It lathers into little bubbles, its really soft (shea butter and olive oil!), and the smell lingers on your skin for a long time. Overall I would say it was a success, but still not better then LUSH! It made a bit more then I thought it would, so I've been giving them out as little gifts :) I made a lot of little ones too that I didn't post photos of. But they are the perfect size for a travel soap, or for next to the sink for hand washing. When I get home tomorrow I will probably try it out in the shower and see how I like it :) I hope you all have a great night, I'm going to go browse Etsy for a little while before playing some solitaire and calling it a night!
